Editing & Editorial Planning

I've taken on the role of lead editor for several travel-marketing publications, working with the client and other members of the editorial team to ensure a pristine finished product. As an editorial assistant for the Yahoo Contributor Network, I managed and reviewed thousands of user-generated articles.

"Love, Colorado" travel magazine

This publication was commissioned by the Colorado Tourism Office during my time at Miles Partnership, a travel-marketing company. My responsibilities included conducting research, developing the editorial outline, assigning work to other writers, writing content, fact checking and copy editing articles, collaborating with graphic designers on visual elements, and reviewing proofs before going to print — all while managing client feedback and approval at each step.

Colorado "Roots" travel magazine

This publication was also commissioned by the Colorado Tourism Office. In addition to owning the process for content development from start to finish, this guide involved reviewing and formatting the extensive listings section in the back. Eventually "Roots" was merged with another publication called "Alive" to form the "Love, Colorado" guide, a process in which I was also heavily involved.

Capital Region USA vacation guide

This travel guide is created by the official destination marketing organization promoting Washington, DC; Virginia; and Maryland to international audiences. I oversaw and worked on all editorial aspects of the guide, reviewed ads, and proofed versions of the guide translated into three languages.
